It's always tough trying to make plans for your whole friend group. It seem like inevitably, someone is going to be excluded. But regardless of whether they have to work, or if they don't have a ride to the event, it's always a bummer when you have to miss spending time with one of your friends. That's especially true if it's a big event and everyone else is going to be included. In this case though, we just can't understand why the person who's missing out won't change their mind. Apparently, they're skipping the Independence Day party just because they're afraid of one of their friend's pets!
This isn't a case of some killer dog, or an animal that can't be contained. OP actually owns a boa constrictor, and as a responsible snake owner she always keeps the snake in a separate room if someone is over at the house who isn't comfortable with the animal. Apparently though, OP's house became the best option for the group's yearly 4th of July party. OP obliged the desires of the group, and even offered to keep their snake in a separate room. But, one particular friend is so deathly afraid of the animal, even if they won't have to see it, that they're now refusing to come. That would be fine, everyone is allowed to make their own choices. But, now this friend is running around and badmouthing OP, when all OP wanted to do was make everyone happy! Sometimes, you just can't win though, we guess. The Redditors reading this story had some pretty strong (and hilarious) reactions to the whole situation, so we compiled a few snipped of the thread down below. And, if you like what you see, keep scrolling for more great content just like this.
We didn't mention it before, but the thought of having a giant snake that could literally devour us at a party sounds like a horrible idea. That being said, if this was one of our friends, and they promised to keep the pet contained, who are we to judge? Some people are dog people, some people are cat people, and inexplicably, some people are snake people.
After all this, we have a hard time calling OP the AH here. It sounds like they tried their best to accommodate everyone, and the only one with any issue about the snake is also the only one running around talking about it. Well, until OP made this Reddit post. Then they also were talking about the situation, but that's different.
