Video of Barn Cat Intrigued by a Rattlesnake Sparks Debate Between Crazy-Cat People and Farmers

There is a glaring difference between cats that have been raised inside a comfy cozy home all their lives with nothing to hunt than a fly, versus cats that were raised by other cats, inside of a barn. These kinds of cats usually share that barn with other farm creatures like chickens, and they have to keep themselves and those dang chickens safe from wild predators—the most affection they get are pets from the farmer, but only ever on the cats' terms.

A Midwestern man who works with real estate in Arkansas and Oklahoma knows the drill when it comes to snakes. Both of these states are riddled with different kinds—both venomous and not—and farmers there know how to keep them under control. Barn cats!

Like stated above, barn cats are completely different than you're run of the mill house cat. They are tough creates who thrive on the hunt. Farmers trust them to help keep the pest population down on their land, and in return they give them love, a barn to live in, and food. The pests can be anywhere from rats, mice, moles, predatory birds, and, yes, even snakes! Snakes love to snake on chicken eggs and even chickens themselves if they're small enough. So it's up to the barn cats to protect.

This Midwesterner agent posted a barn cat intrigued by a snake (what kind of snake is debated). In the video, the man is completely calm about the situation and cheers on the cat like he has 100% confidence in him. This struck up quite a debate in the comments. Cat lovers who have never run a farm chime in appalled by what they are seeing, while other farmers try to explain exactly what a barn cat is capable of.

Everyone who has had a barn cat in the comments find other people's concern laughable. They all agree that barn cats have to be able to take care of themselves, especially in situations like one concerning a snake because they might come across one when there are no humans around—in fact, it's very likely they will.

However, people who cannot believe what they are seeing are shocked. They cannot believe this man wouldn't even attempt to shoo them apart and spare the kitty from getting bit. Though there is debate within the comments whether that's a venomous snake or not, it doesn't sway the ones upset with this content—they still would never let a cat near a snake of any kind.
