    Sounds Simple Enough

Material property - I have three children: Gabriel 32, Alessa 27, and Hunter 26. I have two grandkids and they're both Alessa's kids. Hunter's wife doesn't want kids and even when he was young, I could never picture Gabriel settling down. He's always been a bit flighty and full of wanderlust even though he would've made a great father or father figure. At the end of the day though, as long as my children are happy with their lives that's all I care about. I do spoil my grandkids and brag about t

As far as we can tell, OP is an amazing grandma. Obviously, we can only see one side of the story here, but you can tell a lot about a person by the way they write about their families. And, despite her recent issues, OP sounds nothing but proud of her three kids and their various grand pets and babies.

We Don't See Anything Wrong Here

Font - Last weekend was my birthday and we had a family gathering to celebrate. I gave a speech about how much my kids mean to me, fond memories of each, how proud I am of them, and how they've enriched my life. Occasions like this I've always thanked Alessa for my grandchildren and how wonderful a mother she is. This year I also thanked Gabriel for the numerous 'grandkids' he has, and joked how that's not what I meant when I asked him years ago about foster children. I want to clarify I DON'T a

This sounds like such a sweet speech! She acknowledged each of her children for what makes them individually special, and thanked them all for coming to be with her on her birthday. So, when you read what happened next, you're going to be just as confused as we are. We can't figure out why this speech warranted this response!

    What A Weird Situation

Font - When Alessa was leaving she pulled me aside and told me that I made her feel like less as a mother by counting animals in with her children. I explained to her that I don't see them at all as the same, and as a mother, I know she has more on her plate and more responsibilities than her brother does, but I just enjoy pictures and videos of both her children and his animals and helping both of them. She hasn't spoken to me nearly as much since then, or asked me to babysit, and she's gone co

    She's Working On A Solution!

Mammal - ETA- I have checked on Gabriel since to make sure he is alright, he is, and after talking to him last night he said this is normal for Alessa. That is news to me so today I am going to have lunch with both of my sons to see if this is normal from Hunter's perspective and talk to them both to see if there has been something going on that I missed. Thank you everyone.

    Way Way Way Too Seriously

Human body - Main_Potential_6015 5 days ago Partassipant [4] NTA. Your daughter took that comment waaay to seriously. You expressed happiness and joy and she turned it into a guilt trip? Not cool. Reply Give Award Share Report Save Follow 1.7k

    Three Grand Pupsters

Font - Curious Discussion63 5 days ago edited 5 days ago NTA. I have three grandsons, three grand pupsters, and two grand kitties. My daughters appreciate how much I love their furbabies, but for heck's sake know there's no comparison. This is a strange reaction. Perhaps something else is going on with your daughter?

    Sibling Rivalries Die Hard

Font - EvilFinch 5 days ago Partassipant [3] I wonder if there was always a rivalry between those two. And having the only grandchildren was her trumpcard. But to act so jealous when your mother praise taking care of animals. It is like "mom, look at me, just me, me, ME". ΝΤΑ 44 Reply Share

    This Just Confuses Us More

Font - 91 Impossible-Pause3788 Supreme Court Just-ass [109] NTA. Alessa has a serious hair trigger. Is there something going on in her life or between her and your sons? This isn't a normal reaction. Reply Give Award Share Report Save Follow 697 5 days ago sunnymimaw OP. 5 days ago Not that I'm aware of. Usually I'm closer to her than my sons but she hasn't mentioned there being any hardships or problems going on that would be stressing her out or act out of character. I've been tempted to ask H

    We Second This

Font - Farmof5 5 days ago Partassipant [3] NTA. It sounds like her middle child syndrome is showing. Who you love, how much you love, or how you express love doesn't get to be dictated by her or anyone else. If she can't take a joke or not be the center of attention for a brief moment, she needs some therapy. This emotional manipulation (withholding access to grandkids to get her way) isn't healthy behavior. 191 Reply Give Award Share Report Save Follow

    No More Special Status

Font - onekrazykat Partassipant [2] 5 days ago NTA. Alessa has been basking in the special status as the "one with grandbabies" for a little too long and I think it's probably gone to her head a bit. Can I ask a question? Does she have anything else going on with her life? Maybe she's clinging to that because she feels it's the only thing she has? (And if so, she really needs a little more balance, being a mom is awesome, but being just a mom is not so good for anyone.) Reply Give Award Share Re
