Grandma Turns To Reddit After Daughter Totally Freaks At Birthday Party
It breaks our hearts when we read a thread on Reddit about somebody trying their best to be a good friend or family member, and having their loved ones misunderstand their intentions. Thankfully, in those situations, the people of Reddit are usually there to pick the person up and help them feel better. And, this situation we read about this week was no exception. The people of Reddit were there to give OP, a grandmother, the pick me up she needed to understand that she hadn't made such a big mistake with her daughter after all.
Apparently, the family was at Grandma's birthday party, and when the time came to blow out the candles, Grandma decided to make a little speech for her brood. You'll read what OP says about the speech later, but as far as we can tell it was all on the up and up! She congratulates her daughter on her the beautiful grandchildren she'd given her, and then she also congratulates her less-romantically-lucky son on the foster grand-pets he's brought into their lives! But, OP's daughter had an issue with this. She felt diminished as a mother after being lumped in with her brother and his pets, and pulled her mother aside to rant about it after the party. OP was understandably shocked. She didn't think she'd said anything wrong. Plus, the daughter's response was totally disproportionate, and now she's not talking to her brother, or letting Grandma see the grandkids. The whole situation is just unfortunate, but we wanted to compile it to give you all a little how-not-to anyway. Sounds Simple Enough
As far as we can tell, OP is an amazing grandma. Obviously, we can only see one side of the story here, but you can tell a lot about a person by the way they write about their families. And, despite her recent issues, OP sounds nothing but proud of her three kids and their various grand pets and babies.

We Don't See Anything Wrong Here
This sounds like such a sweet speech! She acknowledged each of her children for what makes them individually special, and thanked them all for coming to be with her on her birthday. So, when you read what happened next, you're going to be just as confused as we are. We can't figure out why this speech warranted this response!
