Influencer 'Accidentally' Buys $100k Couch, Asks Followers to Pay For It

I could be making this up, but it feels like furniture as a status symbol is more prevalent than ever. Everyone and their mom is cooing over midcentury modern chairs, teak tables, and sleek, hardwood consoles that look like they came straight out of an interior design or architecture magazine. Unfortunately, these stylish items cannot be classified as ‘design within reach.’ That is, to say, they're oppressively expensive. I have about 8 couches and 10 chairs that I'm watching on ebay, but I've never, ever come close to actually purchasing any of them. I didn't think even think that was possible. Until now, thanks to TikTok influencer Quenlin Blackwell.

The 19 year old (who has millions of followers on both TikTok and Instagram) shared this tearful video about a week ago, in which she explains to viewers that she made an offer on a $100k couch…as a joke. She then asks anyone who “has a million dollars” to please donate.

Needless to say, viewers were…not impressed.

Many users were skeptical of the entire situation. And for good reason. It seems incredibly stupid to be so flippant with one's credit card info.

If I had a million dollars I might actually send over some money just to get her to stop whining.

Her update doesn't make things better - she tries to say she doesn't want to get a job and that she can't earn money a normal way because of her “ADHD.” Mmmmkay.

The constant redirection to her other accounts makes this seem a little fishy. Like, perhaps, it's an influencer looking for attention? Wouldn't be the first time. The most suspicious thing? Her refusal to even show us the damn couch. Another TikTok rollercoaster with an anticlimactic end. At least we got to enjoy some pretty cringey acting.
