"We actually weren't looking for another cat," said Emily, who also manages her other cat Ella's popular movie critique page on TikTok, @Ellawatchestv_. Emily explained that once she heard her husband get home, she was met suddenly by a new fuzzy presence in her house.
"I opened the bathroom door, and she was just there," Emily remarked. "I was nervous at first—that Ella would be comfortable."

The worries over her Internet star cat fell by the wayside quickly, though. Almost immediately, Emily fell in love with Jovie. Yet, Jovie's name wasn't Jovie at this point. She was still bearing the Star Wars-themed name "Solo."

As avid entertainment fans, Emily and her husband were deciding on three names for their new addition: "Moira" from Schitt's Creek, "Tonks" from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and "Flo" or "Florence" after Florence Pugh of Marvel's Black Widow fame. But those didn't fit Jovie's shy yet nervous temperament.

"My favorite Christmas movie of all time is Elf," Emily said, explaining that she turned to her husband and declared, "what about Jovie?"
"We felt it really matched her personality, she stated. "It just clicked."

Emily and her husband have cared for Jovie for well over a year, and she's become the couple's impromptu daughter. Since Jovie doesn't take to people as easily as her older sister Ella, she ensures she's always by her mom's side.

"For instance," Emily elucidated, "if she doesn't know where I am, she calls out to me, and the second I say 'Jovie, I'm here,' she notices where I am, or she hears my voice, and you can hear her meowing and trotting along to me."
-
07
When people are around that Jovie doesn't know, she goes into hiding. Although Jovie is only trying to mitigate her anxiety, it takes her to strange, even somewhat comical places, like inside a couch's armrest.

Ella has taken her time in building a relationship with her new sister Jovie. At first, Emily said that Ella only "tolerated" Jovie, but she described her feline TikTok star definitely has "oldest child syndrome" since she was used to being the only one in the house. Given the 11-year age difference, Ella didn't want to share anything initially. Ella and Jovie both love cat beds. Which Emily explained is "shocking, because most cats just like boxes," and her cats "just do not care about boxes."
-
09
If Jovie went on a cat bed, Ella would no longer use that bed. But that's changed dramatically. Jovie, who has slept in her parents' bed since the start, was recently joined by Ella, who was never the kind of feline to sleep in the bed.

"What's cute about Ella and Jovie is that if one or the other isn't in bed at night, they can't go into bed without the other," Emily illuminated. Now, she and her husband understand that even though Ella doesn't cuddle with Jovie or allow Jovie to lick her, she shows her affection by looking out over her. In fact, it was actually Ella that scoured the house when Emily and her husband couldn't find Jovie and alerted them to her burrowed inside the couch. Ella meowed at her, and Jovie returned in her unmistakably high-pitched mew.

Jovie and Ella are now "stereotypical sisters," Emily said, putting fact to the "I love you, but I don't want to show you how much I love you" kind of love.
-
12
"Jovie is truly like a baby," she added. "She is the sweetest cat in the world." Emily said she jokes with her family that Ella is her best friend, but Jovie is "definitely" her child. Although Jovie doesn't have big dreams of Internet stardom like her sister, she's perfectly content with chasing around "Puffy," the fourth iteration of the toy mouse she loves to bat around and destroy with adorable enthusiasm.
