Men have always been buying women drinks at bars. No woman would be surprised by a man coming up to her at a bar and offering to buy her a drink or two. It's very commonplace. As very ethnocentric Americans, we're definitely used to the American style of asking a woman if she wants a drink. In the UK, they're still asking women if they want drinks, but in a very different style. British Twitter user ANMalikSmith posted a tweet about how a man waiting in a long line with her at a bar bought her a pint solely because the UK won the Women's Euros. He wasn't even flirting with her. He was just being a pleasant chap at the bar. Aisha considers this a win for feminism, but we think the hilarious tweet in itself is another win for the Brits, in addition to winning the Women's Euros. The word 'innit' is in the tweet, and that's all you need to know. Scroll down for the Twitter thread.
The British English is at such a high-level that we're not entirely sure what we just read.
The Americans on this Twitter thread are shook.
