This mother returned the family dog to the animal shelter, an act that has infuriated the internet after screenshots of a text message exchange were posted in this viral thread. The very thought of this happening to the poor teen and their dog breaks out heart. It's astounding how cold and callous some people can be.
The screenshots were shared on Reddit's r/MildlyInfuriating subreddit by Redditor u/Bucket0fMilk, who is reportedly the son of the mother in the text message exchange.
Despite doubts from some commenters regarding whether or not the events of the thread were falsified or not, we have been unable to verify. A quick reverse image search of the dog that was posted by the original poster turns up nothing, which suggests that the photo at least is original content. The original poster was quick to defend themself in the comments whenever other users expressed their doubts.
"Ok, Detective, you assume that. But if I don't know what to tell you, then I'm sorry you feel that way" the original poster responded to one suspicious commenter. "If I really wanted karma, I probably would've made the story more dramatic and [said] that she murdered him."
"I'm good man I could never 😭SHES scary and also kicked me out too many times," they also commented, adding some context to their situation. "As of rn, she's the only source of having a roof over my head, but as soon as I turn 18 I'm gonna be out."
Other commenters expressed their undying rage for the mother's actions.
"I don't want to insult your Mum but the 'oh well' was cold," said Murky-Knowledge-7726.
"That's the kind of attitude that results in kids not ever visiting or calling when they've grown enough to choose who they keep in their lives," responded MonoclePenguin.
"I do want to insult her. She's an f-ing sociopath," another user, sourpower2020, responded.
Another user, TheMagarity, shared their own traumatic story.
"One day I couldn't find my cat. Searched and called everywhere. Mom said she must have run away. Years later casually mentioned that she had taken the cat to vet and had her put down because she sometimes caught wild birds that my mother liked."
