Very Shy Kitten Gets Rescued, And After Being Treated And Getting A Whole Lotta Love, Shows His True Purrsonality

Stress and sickness often cause one to become more reserved in an effort to conserve energy when the road ahead is unclear. For stray cats, life on city streets isn't paved with comfort, and weariness and vulnerability can cause them to hide who they really are.

Fortunately, caring humans in a better atmosphere can clear up any troubles. They often lead to changes in personality.

Caliente is small stray grey and white kitten found by a concerned citizen in Richmond, Virginia. While he wasn't injured when he was taken in by the Richmond Animal Care & Control (RACC), he did need relief from his upper respiratory infection.

Although the dedicated caretakers at RACC were ready to provide much-needed relief to Caliente, he was a bit apprehensive about all the attention. When he arrived at the shelter, he was a very shy guy.

Nevertheless, Caliente only needed some time to become acclimated better to humans. There's no telling what he saw during his shirt life on the streets.

Regardless, wholesome humans always leap at the chance to help an animal in need. After a week or two of medicine, Caliente was feeling much better with his sinuses clean, his eyes cleared up, and his personality changed quickly.

RACC Communications Director Robin Young said Caliente has shown himself to be a "playful boy." He only needed a little time to learn his surroundings and now loves to snuggle every chance he gets.

Although he loves playing with his toys, his favorite thing by far is his bed. In fact, he may love it a little too much.

People who come in to view all the bright and fuzzy faces may miss seeing Caliente. Robin joked that "he's not too good at marketing himself."

Nevertheless, it's a rare and fascinating find of a feline who likes to sleep in the bed given to him, not the box it came in. It just shows how much of a loveable goofball Caliente is.

Caliente is a lovebug that will put a smile on anyone's face. That shy kitten is now growing into a purr-happy cat that will greet you with that loveable whirr when you scratch his face, especially under his fuzzy chin.

One can only speculate that he earned his name by the warmth in his personality that shined through his timid past. As he's now cleared for adoption, Caliente is hoping for a home where he can curl up in your lap for frequent pets, though he may still have a love affair with his bed.
