Back in April, TikToker @mads.ringswaldegan went viral for asking the community "what the f*** do you do in an office job?" The video has been stitched countless times by users who are eager to either explain that they do actual work at their offices or to explain that offices are completely unnecessary. We won't say where we stand on the matter (hehe) but thanks to a post on Twitter, we think we've found the best answer to @mads.ringswaldegan's burning question.
The reposts of this astute stitch come courtesy of @randileeharper, who shared it in two parts. Their creator has gone private since the initial posting, so we're thankful for OP's generosity.
In their video @beevesoftime explains that it's a misconception that offices “function or, like, produce something.” She goes on to say that they're actually religious buildings dedicated to a religion called “professionalism.” Apparently, missions and/or visions don't really exist. The actual purpose of the office is to demonstrate that you understand this form of proverbial worship.
The video goes on to compare companies or corporations to Gods, C-Level executives to high priests, etc etc. It's a sobering look at hierarchies and systems that many of us don't - or can't - question. The parallels seem to resonate with the people of Twitter, who chimed in with their support for the very spicy take.
