According to Walla, during their jeep tour in the Judaean Desert, Hagi Tal and his friend Shahar encountered a group of Bedouins who laid out a blanket for an injured camel. Most likely, it seemed that the camel was injured after falling on some rocks. "We saw eight Bedouins with blankets moving a camel," said Hagi. "We came down, stopped the jeep, took out some thick belts, and helped them carry the camel for about a quarter of an hour until we made it to a road. And then, we all looked at one another, wondering about what to do with the camel."

Hagi explains that he did not actually see how the camel got injured, but he did see the Bedouins trying to help the animal. He recalled: "We helped them carry it, and they asked us if we can help them take it with our vehicle." Hagi and his friend went to the trunk of the car and started clearing it so that there would be space to fit the camel. "I had to move chairs and other equipment from the trunk and put it in the front to let the camel in, but there was no other choice, we had to evacuate it," Hagi explained.

After managing to get the camel into the jeep, according to Hagi, another incredible and insane thing happened: the eight Bedouins, not wanting to leave the injured camel until it reached safety, hopped onto the jeep from both sides of the vehicle. "They were hanging on a step outside of the vehicle, and some of them sat with us inside. We took them all the way to their encampment, which was about four kilometers." There, the camel could be taken car of and recover. Hagi adds jokingly: "After that, they didn't have any shame to ask us to give them a ride back to where they were so that they could also pick up the donkeys they left behind."

Overall, Hagi explains that the experience was a surreal but positive one. He says that the Bedouins invited them to stay and eat, and despite the fact that they barely spoke each other's languages, they managed to enjoy some tea and coffee and have a conversation about soccer. And about the camel, Hagi says: "To the camel: hello. They told me that when a camel breaks its leg - it's over for it, but this one just got scratched, so it'll live." We wish the best to this camel and to all the amazing people involved in rescuing it. You guys are an inspiration to us all, and we can only hope to hear more incredible rescue stories like this one.
