Cats do it, dogs do it, and even squirrels do it. Splooting, or sprawling out on all fours, is a way for animals to keep cool. The posture helps them lose heat more efficiently by increasing the surface area of their bodies on a cool surface. Sploot is slang for the pose an animal, especially dogs, cats, and other four-legged pets, makes when it lies on its stomach with its hind legs stretched out back and flat. The term is especially associated with Welsh corgis and is used affectionately in the internet slang of DoggoLingo.
Cats and dogs are not the only splooting masters, oh no. Animals are the sploot connoisseurs. Unsurprisingly, the internet finds pets doing unconventional poses such as splooting incredibly interesting and cute. We would have to agree with the interwebs on this one. The art of the sploot is an art that not any one can master. The fluffier the butt, the more satisfying the sploot. Just have a look for yourselves. These felines are embracing the art of the sploot and we are here for it. Take a gander at all of these splooty booties, and have a fantastic day.
