Wizards of the Coast's highly restrictive Open Gaming License version 1.1 caused an absolute uproar last week, and fans everywhere weren't afraid to speak their minds all over the internet. The backlash seemed to work, because WotC responded with a revised OGL (version 1.2), which will now bring the core game mechanics of Dungeons & Dragons into a Creative Commons license. WotC also reassured players and creators that D&D content that was published under the old OGL 1.0a will not be affected by the new license terms. While many fans are collectively sighing in relief, others are still feeling a bit suspicious that WotC's ultimate goal is to monetize the beloved RPG into oblivion. Only time will tell.
