Rule of thumb: it is never okay to abandon your significant other in a restaurant.
Like every rule, there are exceptions, but those extreme situations where getting up and leaving your date without a way to get home is acceptable are few and far between.
An adult throwing a teenage tantrum in a packed restaurant, then leaving his girlfriend behind to figure out how to get home on her own, is a red flag.
Such was the case of today's Am I the A$$hole.
To add insult to injury, the entire scene was caused over a crude and misogynistic joke OP had made about his GF's best friend, who had undergone an emergency C-section.
Another rule of thumb: NEVER make remarks, let alone jokes, about other people's private parts. The only exception to this rule is if you're a doctor and are giving sound medical advice.
As you can tell from the title of the thread, OP has no inkling that his "joke" was highly inappropriate. Lucky for society, Reddit AITA users are always happy to enlighten the sexist a$$holes out there.
