Hey pals! It's not a very sunny day over here, rather it's actually quite cloudy and our cats are not having it. All living creatures need sunlight to thrive. Cats are no exception. Cats are natural-born sun-seekers! So when you see your furry companion basking in the sun, it's actually using the warmth to help make up for the slight drop in body temperature that happens when cats fall asleep. Another interesting fact is that cats have fewer heat receptors than we humans do. Who would have known? Thanks, Wikipedia.
So it makes sense that cats love to sprawl out and roll around under every spot that the sun covers. We also love to sprawl out and roll around under the sun, only for us it's a little less socially acceptable. Meh. All this talk of basking in the sun has us reminiscing over the summer. It might be winter, but we are already manifesting warm weather, sunny days, and beach trips.
