I love animals. I have two rescue cats whom I adore and am eager to pet any dog that crosses my path while I'm on my way to and from work. We've even got an office dog, who goes by the name of Mousse. There's no question that his presence warms the hearts of the company's workers. He may even help improve productivity. But giving the okay for Mousse to join us Mondays through Wednesday was no easy feat.
See, our HR administrator wanted to make sure that everyone in the office was comfortable with the presence of a dog. Though they're seemingly everywhere online and IRL, there are still people who have phobias surrounding canines, and people with serious allergies to the critters. We feel for both these types, especially because it feels like dogs are literally allowed everywhere, and the freedom shows no sign of dying down.
Twitter user @madison_tayt didn't mince words on the subject this week when they confessed to believing "we've become entirely too permissive as a culture with thinking they can and should be taken everywhere." We're inclined to agree, but the message wasn't so well-received by everyone.
