Twitter Users Explain The Two Distinct Kinds Of 'Absence Of Cat': Funny And Relatable Cat Ownership Moments

There are some parenting moments that only cat owners understand. And yes, yes, 'don't compare owning cats to having babies', we hear you. But you don't understand! Some moments in the lives of a cat owner truly do make us feel like we're their parents in some capacity. We're attuned to them in ways that we're sure only parents are attuned to their children, and we react appropriately.

For example, the first thing cat owners do when they hear a scary noise in the middle of the night is call our cats, not think that there's a robber. And if cat owners are having electronic problems, we check if the cat is not sitting on the wireless keyboard and messing things up for us. And when we suddenly don't see our cats in our direct line of vision, we know - instinctively and instantaneously - if everything's fine or if something is wrong. Or, as this twitter user put it: "absence of cat (chill)" and "absence of cat (suspicious)".

This really is true. It's not an exaggeration at all. We truly do know our cats and their patterns of behavior so well that we just know, without even trying, when they're simply sleeping in the other room versus when they're silently on our table in the kitchen, licking the butter that we forgot to put back in the fridge.

Also very true. Sometimes, they are in the room with you just because they wanna chill next to one of the more tolerable humans, and sometimes, they are there because they want something and expect you to know what it is and give it to them immediately or they will be mad at you for the rest of the day. We know which presence is which as cat owners, but we get screwed anyway lol.
