Font - Megan Wegenke @MegWegenke I don't completely know how to explain this, but as a cat owner you quickly learn that "absence of cat (chill)" and "absence of cat (suspicious)" are two very different kinds of silence 9:19 PM. Feb 1, 2023 . 4M Views 24.9K Retweets 937 Quote Tweets 196K Likes

This really is true. It's not an exaggeration at all. We truly do know our cats and their patterns of behavior so well that we just know, without even trying, when they're simply sleeping in the other room versus when they're silently on our table in the kitchen, licking the butter that we forgot to put back in the fridge.

Font - DeyDey writes stories @DeyaViews Replying to @MegWegenke How about "presence of cat (chill)" vs "presence of cat (suspicious)"? 8:36 AM Feb 2, 2023 · 131.4K Views 208 Retweets 7 Quote Tweets 10.6K Likes

Also very true. Sometimes, they are in the room with you just because they wanna chill next to one of the more tolerable humans, and sometimes, they are there because they want something and expect you to know what it is and give it to them immediately or they will be mad at you for the rest of the day. We know which presence is which as cat owners, but we get screwed anyway lol.

Font - Sarah Pinsker @SarahPinsker : Replying to @MegWegenke This very much also works for dogs. I know for a fact without looking that one dog is watching construction out the window and one is asleep behind me. The one behind me has an alternate mode in which he silently shreds toys but this is not that. 10:30 PM. Feb 1, 2023 95.5K Views 33 Retweets 2,118 Likes

Font - Stefan Etienne @StefanEtienne Replying to @MegWegenke Yes. The worst is when you can't find them. Are they hiding behind you? In the void? Are they plotting world domination? Sometimes you jus don't know. 5:10 PM. Feb 2, 2023.43K Views

Font - Miss Po Beep @MissPoBeep Replying to @MegWegenke and @LouisatheLast Shortly after my then-bf moved in w/me 20 years ago, I was in the same room as my cat when the silence just -shifted-. I can't explain it either, but suddenly I KNEW something was up. I looked up, & my cat made eye contact, & then deliberately peed on bf's cherished recliner. 5:17 PM. Feb 2, 2023 13.8K Views

Font - The Romeo Ever @autisticjubilee Replying to @MegWegenke I grew up with Cats AND Dogs and it's . The difference is there. The silence between when my cat was just napping vs when she was in the ceiling and when my dog is dozing unde rthe table vs when she's chewing a hole through a trashbag is so recognizable now. Also happens w kids 5:58 PM. Feb 2, 2023. 15.4K Views

Replying to @MegWegenke One of my cats will meow until I answer her back at like 2am so when she goes quiet and it's not because of me I know she's found something she shouldn't be eating.
