Friendship is a wonderful thing, knowing somebody so intimately and with so much warmth, that you know no matter what you have a safe space place to be yourself. This collection of cuteness documents the members of the animal kingdom who know what it means to say 'You've got a friend in me', from the most unlikely of pairs to those that were simply meant to be, take a moment and enjoy the splendours of friendship.
Did you know that these kinds of friendships are called 'Interspecies Friendships'? They communicate both verbally and non-verbally (like you and your doggo), but the friendship is solidified with social bonding activities such as play. Apparently, birds are especially selective of their friends, even specifically avoiding other birds they dislike and what's more is that their opinion of you can last for decades, talk about holding a grudge.
A friend in need is a friend indeed. As seen here, the Egyptian plover is being a level 10 bro, coming to clean his crocodile buddy's teeth. In fact, this relationship is very common in the animal kingdom and is not restricted only to crocs and Egyptian plovers. Many animals such as sharks, buffaloes and lions have relationships with smaller animals that are able to help keep them clean.
What a sweet couple! Cows have such a warm motherly touch, as we can see here. How is she so gentle with the little kitty! Did you know that in yoga, Cat and Cow are complementary poses? Seems pretty serendipitous that these two would become friends!
