Font - r/antiwork Posted by u/[deleted] 8 hours ago I personally deal with this sort of environment at my job. Took me months of harassment, bullying, being shamed, and so on for them to finally leave me alone and accept the help they get with my 40 hrs a week. Other than that I'm out. Stick to your boundaries tho.

Font - EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY: all staff must leave their cell phones on and make themselves available when not on shift. Consider yourself "on call" You must answer calls from Gary and if you are asked to cover a shift you must do so without complaints. This is not optional. We all neeed to work together to help the company succeed. Let's set some record profits this quarter. Go team

Commenters had plenty of ideas for getting back at the guy:

Human body - familyhomeinspection 7 hr. ago The entire staff should check in every hour on the hour with Gary

Font - taws34 4 hr. ago Clock out of your shift, then immediately clock in again with an "on-call" note and attach this picture if you can. Let HR and payroll figure this S out.

Font - BunkytheClown. 7 hr. ago Love it! "Hi Gary, I'm on my way over to my parents' place for dinner, so I just thought I'd check in to see if I'll be needed to work." "Hi Gary, I'm just about to go into a movie theater, and they're telling me to turn off my cell phone. What do I do? Shall I come in to work instead?" "HI Gary, I'm feeling sick today. I can still come in anyway if you need me, but I was just about to have a nap, so I thought I'd check first."

Font - Afterbirth Nachos. 4 hr. ago I pulled this while on leave with the military. My first line told me to call him every day to check in. I called him at 5 am for two days in a row before he told me to stop calling

Font - Bionic Bananas. 7 hr. ago "Consider yourself on call" "Let's set some record profits" These come with record pay right? Reply Share 3.8k Yuroshock 3 hr. ago Of course, if you're on call they're required to pay you. So text Gary to confirm what days and hours you're on call, then at the next paycheck let accounting know per screen shot of texts from Gary you were on call for 100 hours this week. If they try to refuse, enjoy the lawsuit.

Font - Mobile-Nature-69707 hr. ago On-call status without on-call pay violates labor laws. My phone would stay off.

Font - Fxlearner 7 hr. ago How about you just block Gary's number? Or just say you were sleeping each time they called? If you are truly on call you should be getting paid for it extra also.

Font - JetoCalihan 7 hr. ago In most places they legally have to pay an hourly rate whenever someone is on call. You should look up your local statutes, inform the staff, and then management of this. 263 Reply Share WesternKey2301.5 hr. ago Strictly in that order. Don't let management know until every staff member is aware of this so you can have a united front

Font - TheFeshy 5 hr. ago Dear Employee: We are desperate for you to be here. However, please interpret that as "do everything we say, even if it violates labor laws" and not "you have increased your bargaining position." Thank you, Management.

Rectangle - Ragnardrako 6 hr. ago 1. Ask Gary via E-mail to confirm this, if he does, 2. follow through for one or two months, 3. ask Gary, where the rest of your wage is for beeing on call 24/7 4. Sue. 5. Profit.

Font - darkwhite 7Kaze 2 hr. ago I'm just gonna say it: I'd come WAY closer to working more hours to take a little pressure off of a co- worker than I ever would "to help the company succeed". Run your business better and it won't go under.

Font - russianspacecat. 5 hr. ago It's s like this that made me buy a burner for work. Like, my personal phone is always on because I have a life. But my "work" phone gets turned off the second I walk out of my job. Costs me 10$/ month for the extra number that can only make calls and texts. As far as my bosses are concerned, I only exist M-F, 7-3.

Font - Airborne89-92 51 min. ago As soon as they say "on call" they need to compensate you. Can be money, perks or time but has to be something by law. Went through this in my job and originally they gave us take home cars but eventually we ended up getting paid extra hours to be on call after we threatened to call the feds.

Font - capacitiveresistor. 51 min. ago Your first question when seeing this is: What is my on call rate? the second: To whom do I submit my hours? When they say nothing and nobody, promptly tell them to f off...

Font - Bee6bee 6 hr. ago Yeah absolutely not. You own 40 hours of my week and not a second more. When Gary calls me on my day off I'm simply gonna tell him I'm half a bottle of wine and an edible down. Because it's my day off. So pi р on ya, Gary.
