Marriage proposals have always been a big deal. Whether you have talked about it with your partner before or not, it can truly make or break the relationship. Proposing to someone basically gives the ultimatum of "will you be with me for the rest of our lives or we're breaking up." Or at least things will be awkward for you two if the person rejects the proposal. That is why you have to take many things in to consideration and those things should absolutely center around the person you are asking.
If you are egotistical and think the world revolves around you, however, then you would make you proposing to your partner all about… Well you. This is exactly the approach this self-centered boyfriend took to propose to his girlfriend. He decided he was going to propose and even called her best friend to ask her what was the best way to propose to her. She emphasized that her bestie was kind of traditional and extremely family oriented—so if he was going to propose he would have to get the parents' approval and he would have to include them and her close friends at the intimate moment of the propose.
Apparently, he thought that last part was something he could just gloss over, because he proposed and only invited his "boys" and his parents. He didn't even mention it to the girlfriend's parents. And to make things worse, he engraved "Mrs. HIS LAST NAME" when she specifically told him she would never change her last name, especially for a marriage.
So of course, the girlfriend walked right out. She returned the ring and went straight to her parent's house where she called her bestie and she spilled all. She told her how she specifically told him he needed to include her close friends and family and had the texts to prove it.
