Cat Caught A Blind Mouse But Didn't 'Finish The Job', So The Family Adopted The Mouse And Gave It A Pawsome New life (Viral Thread)

Let's be honest here- most cats are suuuper lazy. That's kind of biological for them, and it's kind of our fault. We spoil our cats too much. That's just fact. we love them, and we want to do anything and everything that we possibly can to make them happy, and if that means spoiling the heck out of them, then no hard done, right? Still, not all cats are lazy bums. Some cats are actually fantastic mouse catchers… when they feel like it, of course. 

The cat in this story… is not one of them lol. Today's cat is one that falls somewhere in the middle - it tried to catch the mouse, it even succeeded. It just couldn't 'finish the job'. Normally, we would say that's a bad thing. Catching a mouse, hurting it by catching it, then leaving it be - no help, no nothing. But in this case, the mouse was quite lucky, because instead of freaking out and grabbing the broom, these lovely cat owners decided to keep the mouse and give it a second chance at life, and that's… actually kind of amazing.

    We have honestly never been quite this happy while watching a video of a mouse running around. Usually, if our cats bring us a mouse, it's not exactly a pleasant experience, but this story has such a funnily pleasant outcome that we legitimately cannot help but smile while reading it.

    More people should be like this in our opinion. Yes, it's a mouse. Yes, most people wouldn't care - wouldn't even think about a mouse that their cat caught as a potential pet. This is actually kind of awesome. Thank you for sharing this story with us. You really reminded us of the kindness that humanity is capable of.

    Font - LindsaylsBoring OP. 2d S1 Award For whatever reason, he doesn't really react to the cat. I would guess conditioning because he only sees the cat every time he is fed or gets a treat. But other than living in the tank we don't really treat him like a regular pet because he is still a wild animal. So he is never handled, hands are washed after feeding him or touching his stuff, and I wear gloves and a mask when I clean his tank.

He does react sounds and when he smells food, but he doesn't react to people or cats until he can hear or smell us. For example he will come out for food when he hears the cage open, but if I put my hand inside with the food and he smells it, he will hide. It's harder to tell now because he is used to me and the cat coming

For all the people asking why I don't release Winky into the wild. "The wild" for winky, is my pantry. He has never been outdoors. He is missing one eye and blind in the other. He's a little wonky from being injured by the cat and not very fast.

    Font - He can't survive outdoors so he lives in a tank with lots of enrichment and toys and food and treats. This is his brand new tank so he's still figuring it out. He is not a baby. He was caught as a baby he is now a fully grown adult mouse. His eye looks closed in the video because that one is missing. His tilt/clumsiness is due to injury from being caught by the cat.

    Font - He can't have a friend. Wild mice can be very territorial and are not as social as the type of mouse sold as pets. He won't give me or anyone hantavirus. He is not the right species for that. He loves walnuts! No one asked but he just really really loves a walnut.
