Font - My emotionally abusive boss tells me I am disposable so I resign. All hll breaks loose after I leave and he gets fired M OC Sorry for my English. I am not native. I have been sharing my story in different subreddits but I think it is time to look back and laugh about this. Maybe this is part of the healing process? I don't know.

Font - So, anyway, I used to work in this place last year. At first, it was awesome and I liked it a lot. It was demanding, yes, but still manageable. My supervisor, a guy we will call Steve, was at first like a mentor to me. Yes, he was a d sometimes since he liked to make "jokes" that could be offensive. I tried to ignore this and move on. During my first semester, I had good evaluations and Steve liked to show me off a lot as an excellent worker be helped to train.

Font - Things started to go awry after Steve took a few weeks off and I took his place in the meantime. I did a good job and I even proposed some ideas that got traction at the management level. When he came back, he was not very happy about it. After that, everything went awful. Suddenly I am the worst employee he ever had. He says that since he went back from vacation I am unfocused and reply defiantly. However, he often ignores me, gives me contradictory instructions, ambiguous deadlines, etc

Font - He also started to talk bad about me to our team leader (who was his friend outside work too) and she starts to pressure me to "improve my performance" and "be less sensitive". During a review meeting, both team up and say I have to step up because my supervisor can do all my work anyway and that I shouldn't give myself too much credit, since my job is "disposable". After an especially humiliating meeting with him, in which I ended up crying my eyes out, I had enough. I had no job opportu

Font - During my exit interview, I stressed the fact that it would not be a problem to Steve if I leave, since I was disposable and so problematic. I also warned my team leader on how this would happen again if she did not control his behavior. I left and I am told that my supervisor is talking s about me and how I did not resist the pressure as if it was all in my head.

Font - Months pass. I am still unemployed and trying to survive a depressive episode that all this ordeal left me. Then, a former co-worker then calls me and tells me Steve was fired. I was told he started to crumble down after I left because it happens he was giving me almost all his work to me. He just liked to pass all as his and receive the credit. I guess it was all the pressure, but he starts to throw temper tantrums, one of them being so intense that someone saw it and told the manager. A

Font - Eventually, I found a new job, which is pretty chill and pays slightly better. The last thing I know, he still does not find a job. We worked in a very tight knit field and everyone knows how problematic he can be so no one wanted him. He is sort of blacklisted as far as I know. So that's it! Karma is a guys! And for all of those going through something similar, remember you are valuable and you don't deserve to be treated like garbage. Cheers

Font - tourettte 51 min. ago Good for you. My former boss used to do similar things. He gaslit me all the time and say things like "you will never find a job outside this industry”. I quit and found a much better job in a small it company and got a bigger pay than him. he was adamant that the pay we had was maximum pay I can ever get since I only have high-school diploma and I am self taught. Proved him wrong. Within two years my salary was twice what he had and has risen since then. He is stuck

Font - Ok_Negotiation9770 OP. 49 min. ago This! He used to say the same to me! Like "you will never find a job that pays as good and where you do so little". After a while, you start to believe it and you are afraid you will suffer even more if you leave.

Font - sehkmete 57 min. ago Narcissistic bosses are the worst. They love bomb you at the start but only show their true side later. Glad you got out.

Font - Boulders24 17 min. ago When I worked at Safeway the store manager used to tell everyone they have a stack of job applications waiting on their desk. Kind of his way of threatening everyones job and trying to make us feel disposable. Should have heard the night shift manager crying on my voice mail the night I never showed up because I got a new job at the other grocery store in town with a dollar raise.

Font - Had to see the store manager to get my last paycheck. He told the chick that handles pay not to pay me until I talked to him. He came in the next morning to me waiting for him and absolutely furious. "What's this I heard about you not paying me?". He handed me the check without a word... I was ready to punch him and he knew it.

Font - TKD_Mom76 19 min. ago . First, I'm glad you saw through Steve, called his bluff and he has paid dearly for it. Second, your English is a lot better than mine and it's the only language I speak and write. Third, you are a very good story teller! Fourth, I hope your life is as up now as you were down after this happened. :-)

Font - Ok_Negotiation9770 OP. 15 min. ago Thank you! that's so sweet of you. I am a bit self- conscious about my English since I learned it by myself so these comments make me smile. Well, I am in a better place now. I am not quite there yet, but finding a new job has helped a lot. Thankfully, I have a very supportive family and friends who helped me during this time.

Font - Nutella_Zamboni +2. 18 min. ago Ive posted this before but it fits... Good on you OP. Hope things are better for you from here on out. I took a voluntary demotion because of a terrible Director. She was a lying, gaslighting, emotional unstable, brilliant trainwreck. She told ME that I was the reason our department was failing. Far be it from me to stand in the way of progress, or tell her how much of her job I was doing and all the things she up that I fixed. f

Font - 6 weeks later she was terminated at a public meeting.....due in part for having Facilities without proper staffing, ignoring 60+ Alarm call from our security provider, swearing at multiple vendors which they had recordings of, shutting off the heating system in a building during a cold snap which caused the water main to burst, etc.

Font - My favorite though is she had IT lock my email access which causes us to almost get certain utilities shut off. It was my job to review the bills for certain things, and forward them once approved to our business office who would remit payment.
