The same concept applies to internal pay scales; as I've recently discussed, the place you end up on a pay scale can be incredibly arbitrary and will almost put you at a disadvantage in comparison to future hires, who end up being hired at higher rates despite having much less experience and institutional knowledge.
This, eventually, leads to turnover, which ironically costs the employer more than the pennies the employee was asking for in the first place.
This worker quit when they were denied a raise, which led to their resignation. The lack of response to their resignation email, combined with learning the new Tik-Tok video guy was making more money than them, led them to rescind their notice period and quit effective immediately.

Screenshots of a portion of their email were posted to Reddit's r/antiwork subreddit by the OP.

Their boss finally responded to their resignation, asking if they were available for a “quick call," aiming to have none of the discussion on the written record. The OP said in a follow-up comment that this was one of the boss's “go-to” moves.
