Heartwarming Couple's Love Story Unfolds as They Chase for the Train, Showing Their Entire Saga (Meeting, Dating, Marriage, + Breaking Up), Blowing Typical RomComs Out of the Water

When you think of a typical love story, the over-used narrative is simple. Boy meets girl, girl initially rejects boy, then a silly/serendipitous anecdote occurs, girl reluctantly falls for boy, they date, fall in love, marriage. Hollywood has outdone themselves on hammering this into the RomCom narrative, drowning us in these cookie cutter love stories that are nothing like real life.

In the real world, love is complex, love is stressful, love is gross, love is sweaty, love is underground, love is… wait, what are we talking about again? According to amateur filmmaker and epic storyteller, Arthur Meyer, love is all of those things, but most importantly, he geniusly told the tale of an epic New York City romance from the depths of the NYC subway stations.

So our story begins when we meet our two protagonists, who are just two regular folks running late for the train. In the video, they are shown sprinting with all their might after missing their entry. As the train speeds away, you can see that despite missing their train, they found a spark between them instead.

They meet again at the subway, this time on purpose. As the train departs from the station, we watch their romance unfold. They go on dates together, spend quality time together, have their first kiss, and fall in love– all while chasing after the G train.

Naturally we get to watch the next few steps in their relationship. They heartily get engaged then married, while in a full, Usain Bolt-style sprint. The speed is actually pretty incredible.

Now this is where Hollywood would have ended this entire story. Marriage is somehow the end of every generic love tale, but any married person will tell you that there's much more that follows that is far more intense. As many newlyweds do, our subway-chasing heroes get pregnant pretty immediate. She shows him a pregnancy test and next thing you know, they're in a full tilt sprint with a newborn in their arms.

Then the relationship takes a turn. The couple starts to argue and bicker and finally decide to split apart. Their divorce is felt through the entire tube-line, no doubt with every commuter desperately following their story.

Our male lead is shown scorfing down a pint of ice cream in his sorrow, drowning the pain of their breakup in dairy products and exhibitionism.

Finally, our protagonist smiles as he sprints down the platform, happy with the epic tale of his love life, but also relieved by its completion. That's just how real-life love stories go (minus all that running); they're messy, epic, and usually very public. Either way this skit is incredible and a fun story to watch. Maybe their relationship totally went off the rails, but at least they had a good run.
