This boss must have attended the "Michael Scott School of Business Management" because this is a joke taken right out of his playbook and, just like Michael Scott, he let this joke go on for way too long. This employee wasn't having any of it and decided to file grievances against the boss.
This thread was posted to Reddit's r/antiwork subreddit on the evening of April Fool's Day. The poster u/--Savathun-- told the story of the cruel prank that their boss pulled by telling them, in a way that seemed completely serious, that they were fired when they came in to work. The boss watched as they took several hours to collect their things and destroy personal documents before heading home. Then, and only then, did the boss reveal that it had been a "prank."
The original poster then returned to share an eventful update, revealing that the boss had been fired for their behavior. The screen grabs of the first thread can be found in items #2-10 and the update in items #11-19. Keep reading to see these, and visit the attribution links to see the original Reddit threads.
