It is another classic boomer vs millennial dilemma. Here we have a millennial son-in-law having to stand up for his generation (yet again) to his boomer mother-in-law who calls anybody younger than her a millennial, and millennials are lazy folk who don't want to work.
This story takes place in an amusement park. A millennial family with the boomer grandparents included, took a spring vacation to an amusement park. The park had just opened for the season, so it wasn't as full of visitors, but also employees. Most people would automatically think that the lack of employees is probably due to it being freshly opened and the seasonal workers haven't started yet, especially since most of the seasonal works are high school or college students. However, this doesn't tend to be the first thought of boomers.
In this situation, the boomer mother-in-law blamed the lack of employees to millennials being lazy and not wanting to work. Classic, right? The son-in-law was a little taken aback by that comment and could not help but respond. He told her that he is a millennial, a 40-something-year-old father who works a full-time salary paid job, so maybe she is confused about what millennials are in general. And also that he, a millennial, as always had a full-time job, his entire life, since entering the workforce when he was young. So what did she say about millennials not wanting to work? Why can't boomers see that employment is not covering costs of living, so why would anybody want to work somewhere where they don't make enough money to live? Also, grandma, it's an amusement park, this is a very low-wage job that usually teenagers do. Teenagers who are Gen Z or even Gen Alpha…
