When traveling, it's always a little nerve-racking planning ahead. You may have done everything you were supposed to do in a very organized fashion, but sometimes life has different plans for you and you have to improvise. Though a very popular choice, Airbnb can be risky when finding a place to stay because it's just regular ole' folks hosting people for some extra bucks—it's not a legit hotel. But sometimes the price is worth the risk… SOMETIMES.
Recently, a video went viral of a girl going OFF on their Airbnb host over the phone. They had booked this Airbnb months in advance, because the time they were going to be there was a very busy time. It was New Years Eve and there was not only a music festival that they were attending, but also a large sporting event. So they knew they had to find a place ahead of time or not at all. However, when they arrived to the Airbnb, none of the entry codes worked to get in and then the neighbor came out saying that the person had actually been evicted. This was a wrench they were not expecting to be thrown into their plans and one of the friends just snapped.
She went onto the handy dandy Google and found not only his full name, birthday, and personal cellphone number, but also his parents phone number and home address. He ignored her calls at first, but then she texted him asking if they were supposed to go to his parents address since this one was not working. After receiving that text message he immediately calls her back and that's when the battle canons start going off.
Eventually, they were able to find a hotel room and Airbnb refunded them and even helped pay for a percentage of their new hotel room. Just goes to show, if you're going to try and scam someone, maybe make sure your personal information isn't readily available on Google… Just a thought.
