At what point will HOA members freely admit that they solely exist to cause trouble that didn't need to exist? Thankfully, this HOA had no idea that the guy they were dealing with was clever enough to find a loophole that fully cooperated with regulations while fulfilling his own personal goal.
That goal, which was outlined in this thread on Reddit's r/MaliciousCompliance subreddit, was to build a fence tall enough to keep his nosy neighbors from peeping over and making him uncomfortable. Not long after he began his project of building an eight-foot fence, the HOA blocked the project, claiming that only a six-foot fence was permutable. So what did the protagonist of this latest HOA saga do? Well, he built that six-foot fence… on top of a three-foot brick wall, which completely aligned with regulations.
We call that thinking outside the box, or should we say fence. For more stories like this, here's one about some petty revenge on a neighbor's fancy car.
