Arlo the Monstrous Irish Wolfhound Isn't Allowed Out of His Room During Dinnertime Because His Shoulder Clears the Table

If you ever read kid's books when you were little, you've probably heard of Clifford the Big Red Dog. He was a mythical monstrous doggo who lived in a firehouse, saved cats, and was about 20ft tall. He'd press his gigantic snoot onto the glass of the upstairs windows of the neighborhood kiddos when he wanted to play and he saved cats from tall trees just by reaching up to them with his tail. He was extraordinary, but also very fictional. Now, there's a doggo in real life who rivals Clifford's size and he's not at all the crimson hero we were promised– he's better.

Meet Arlo, the Irish wolfhound (and closest thing we'll ever have to a real world Clifford). He's a head high monster dog with a sweet heart and tiny minion brothers. It just so happens that Arlo has become internet famous, largely because of his massive size and his owner's general petite stature, but he still is the heartwarming hero that we all know and love. Although he is always a good boy, there are certain precautions that his owner puts in place to keep their house guests from bolting for the front door. The infamous baby gate.

Arlo isn't allowed out in the living area during dinners. Some guests are afraid of dogs (which is incredibly reasonable considering Arlo probably weighs more than a large adult man), but there is a more concerning problem with a dog of Arlo's size. His shoulder clears the dinner table, so he's basically able to peek over everyone's shoulder and onto their plates during dinner. So much for sneaking unwanted broccoli under the table as secret treats for the family pet.

Sure, he's bigger than the table itself, but that doesn't mean Arlo is accustomed to stealing snackies from on top of the table. He's actually gloriously trained and wouldn't dare sneak a bite of something scrumptious from the hooman's plates. He's locked away mostly because it's rather unsettling to have a shaggy horse roaming around the living room when all you want to do is slurp your bolognese.

Disclaimer: Arlo does not et or steal food off tables
