'He's buying the ring tomorrow': Greek boyfriend goes viral for having the most wholesome reaction to his girlfriend secretly learning his native language

When you're an immigrant in America, the odds of you finding a woman who speaks your mother tongue is slim to none. All the comforts of your native language get washed away in the dating pool, so dual-language folks get caught in a bind. In America especially, where only 1 in every 5 adults speaks a second language (which is probably Spanish or French), the odds of you falling in love with someone who speaks anything other than English is pretty slim. One woman, the long term girlfriend of a Greek dude, recently surprised him with the most wholesome gift.

This is Kate, a supremely American  TikToker who has recently gone viral for learning Greek. Not only did she learn more than just some basic boring phrases, but in an attempt to surprise, impress, and grow closer to her Greek boyfriend, she's learned A LOT in secret. He knew she was doing some easy Greek lessons on Duolingo, but she seriously impressed him with her true skill on Wednesday when she filmed his reaction to her carrying a full conversation in his childhood language. 

At first, with the opening greeting, he thinks that she's playing a bit or something and he seems initially astonished at her pronunciation. 

As she continues, he becomes more and more surprised. In fact, it seems like he starts questioning which reality he is living in and looks at her with the most confused look. 

She continues and asks even more detailed questions, continuing the conversation well past what he thought she understood in Greek. Now he starts to look like he's questioning everything at this point. He is literally floored. 

He responds in simple Greek, hoping that she'll catch on, but she steamrolls through, throwing in amazingly complicated phrases and blowing him away even more. The joy and disbelief on his face is so genuine and wholesome, you know he's picturing her in a wedding dress with her flowing dark curls and a spanakopita in hand.

As giggles innocently, but this man just endured an existential crisis. Not only did she just secure her place in his heart forever, but now he's thinking about bigger plans and more elaborate futures. All it took was a heartwarming idea and little Duolingo action to make him feel right at home. 

After learning some classic Greek, she even went out of her way and asked her followers to share some spicy Greek phrases so next time things are getting intimate (which, considering she's speaking Greek now may be, err umm RIGHT NOW), she's prepared with a couple bangers.
