Font - I am going overseas for 2 weeks in August because my friend is paying for my ticket out there otherwise I don't think I could have ever afforded to go. I gave my job 6 months advance notice but they denied my leave because I didn't have enough pto to cover it (we get 5 days a year pto btw). I told them I am not missing this trip its once in a lifetime for me so they have "accepted my resignation" and my last day will be the day I leave unless I give my 2 weeks before that.

Font - They want me to reapply when I get back if they have any openings and part of me is just blown away by the audacity but the other part is like OK I'll reapply and ask for more money since I am literally the perfect candidate for the position.

Font - We are now 2.5 months out and they have still not found anyone to replace me. So I guess the question is do I just reapply to my job when I get back or try to find a different job? My benefits suck but I kinda like the work I do.

Font - OliviaPresteign. 14 hr. ago They've already demonstrated that they're inflexible and short-sighted. I'd apply for other jobs. If you don't have one lined up when you get back, sure, reapply to your old one, but continue to look and quit when you land something better.

Font - Not_OP_butwhatevs 7 hr. ago Start applying now. People that already have jobs are more attractive to companies than those that don't.

Font - CareerAggravating317 5 hr. ago Follow this guy. Have offers lines up and reapply to your current job. If nothing else ask for more money let them pay you and keep interviewing.

Rectangle - samanime 3 hr. ago Yeah, this is exactly what I would do. Even if I went back, I'd still be working on getting out again. And 5 days a year PTO should be criminal...

Font - Jabuwow 3 hr. ago To add - go back only at a pay bump. Tell them now you are being recruited, and not kept on, and as such you will need additional compensation to bring your skills to the company. Take them for as much $$$ as you can OP while looking for another job that can respect you more

Rectangle - iamr3d88 3 hr. ago If they have not replaced you with 6 months notice, thry are going to struggle. When you reapply, I would counter their offer for 10-15% more.

Human body - eileen404 2 hr. ago I'm in the USA and I get 40 days. His job sucks.

Art - jackinwol 12 hr. ago Americans will get 10 days a year and be gaslit into calling it "two weeks" off lol

Organism - MagnificentAdventure 12 hr. ago It seems very unreasonable for a company to only offer 5 days PTO a year and have no unpaid time off. It's almost like they don't want employees to take vacations.

Font - MagnificentAdventure - 4 hr. ago It's really the lack of unpaid time off that I'm questioning. I understand not wanting employees to take off large chunks of time all the time, but to only offer 5 days PTO and no other option to take time off is dystopian as hell.

Font - FuriouslyListening 13 hr. ago There is such a thing as non-pto... its just time off; unpaid leave? All sorts of names for it but basically means you just aren't there today and you aren't paid. It doesn't mean you quit. What the hell type of employer doesn't just accept the unpaid time off? Go find a job worth YOUR time, cause this one is not it.

Font - DD_equals_doodoo 4 hr. ago >What the hell type of employer doesn't just accept the unpaid time off? Um, the overwhelming majority of them? Most employers will terminate you if you take leave beyond PTO and any other provided leaves such as personal days.

Font - completelypositive 4 hr. ago If you just don't show up and no call no show a lot, maybe? Nobody is going to fire you if you say "Hey I'm taking a vacation in seven months and will be gone for a week or two" at any real job or reputable company with a manager who isn't a complete and utter piece of shit.

Font - BalderVerdandi. 10 hr. ago Tell them you're not quitting. You're taking PTO and unpaid PTO. Force them to fire you. Find a new job with a start date after you get back from your trip.
