Fleur Delacour was a Harry Potter character that always made me laugh, not because she was funny, but because J.K Rowling thought it would be a good idea to write her lines phonetically with a French accent. I know that the Harry Potter books are made for children who might not understand that a character's meant to have an accent without it being spelled out for them. However, you can't look me in the eyes and tell me this much French accent writing is necessary.
""We 'ave all be 'oping to be chosen for weeks and weeks! Ze honor for our schools! A thousand Galleons prize money — zis is a chance many would die for!""
Fleur really doesn't do much in the series besides fail at the Triwizard Tournament, be the victim of Ginny and Molly Weasley's internalized misogyny, and accept Billy despite his sexy werewolf scars. Nonetheless, I stan this French diva.
