Money: it's the main reason that most of us do the jobs that we do, yet it's not always easy to talk about. Over the past few years, persistent calls to raise the minimum wage and for employers to acknowledge the rising cost of living with their salaries has made some of us a lot louder about the conversation surrounding personal finances.
The kind of earnings that a person can afford to live on depends on a number of circumstances, and it affects their opinion on how other roles pay. This could be seen in the comment section of a recent TikTok, which was advertising a remote working role for the Red Cross that paid $15.50 an hour. Many did not feel that this was an acceptable rate of pay, but others claimed it would be the kind of job that they would happily take. Perspective is everything in these situations, although most companies probably should pay more.
