Theft is a tricky problem when you can't prove who's taking your belongings.
I recently witnessed someone lose their clothing in real time. While at the laundromat waiting for my clothes to dry, I saw a man walk in with a gray backpack and take all the articles of clothing from a dryer. I didn't think anything of it, of course. But a few minutes later, a different man entered and became immediately distressed. The gray backpack guy had stolen his entire dryer full of clothing!
Worse still, there seemed to be no getting any clothes back. The owners of the store were apologetic, but what could they do besides call the police? The cops showed up to take down this man's information. Meanwhile, the owners checked the cameras to ID the thief.
Unfortunately, it was the worst possible time for this dude to lose his laundry. As he explained loudly, on the verge of tears, that he had to catch a flight in mere hours, and all of his socks and underwear had been in the stolen load of laundry.
While I and everyone else in the laundromat felt terrible for the guy, there was nothing we could do besides help him look around the place. I'll never know what happened to the man who was robbed, but I hope karma works in his favor — sort of like what happened to this laundromat owner, who dealt with a sneaky thief at his own laundry location.
As u/StreetStatistician77 shared to r/petty revenge, they had to deal with a thief. Check out their story below. Next up, if you were this barber, would you have cut the hair of a guy who showed up a half hour late?
