If there's one thing you can expect from an unqualified nepo baby, it's that they will likely do their job incorrectly. We all have been in an office where you curiously start to question how one of your coworkers ended up in their position. You do some digging online, you check all their socials of course, and then you find out that this coworker conveniently is related to the CEO of the company. What a coincidence! Now, this news can be aggravating to some. You may start to question the concept of fairness, and it can all get existential and depressing very quickly.
The alternative, however, is to find a way to exploit your coworker's nepo baby status and use it to your advantage. Hey, these nepo babies have to be good for something, right? This employee seemed to understand this fact as evidenced by this thread, which was posted to Reddit's r/MaliciousCompliance subreddit. In this story, our nepo baby is also named Karen (again, what a coincidence). Karen's uncle is responsible for getting her a job at the company, and it's become quite clear to OP and OP's coworkers that Karen can't do her job well. She is supposed to process people's leave forms, among other responsibilities. So when Sally, another coworker, was forced on unpaid leave for six weeks, she returned and learned that her form hadn't been processed correctly because Karen herself was put on stress leave at the same time. This meant that she actually got paid for this period.
OP stepped in as they are a union representative. After a meeting with HR, Karen, and Sally, there was no record of Sally's paperwork. So at the end of the day, Sally got an additional four-week leave period (this time with reduced pay), and no one batted an eye with regard to her first leave. Looks like Sally has OP and a clueless nepo baby Karen to thank for all this time off!
