Some employers value different traits than you might expect. Usually, when interviewing for a job, you'd make sure to emphasize how you go above and beyond, think critically, and problem-solve—yet, some employers are looking for someone who does exactly what they're told and doesn't ask questions. For most of us, this wouldn't work for us, but there are always going to be those who are happy existing as a thoughtless void—just as long as they can get a paycheck.
It's always painful when you accidentally end up working for one of these organizations, and worse when you realize your boss ended up in their position because of their uncanny ability not to have a single thought in their head combined with their undying willingness to enact any instruction—regardless of how petty, cruel, or exploitative that instruction might be.
It would be wise to get out of these organizations as quickly as you possibly can unless you, too, desire to do the unquestioned bidding of your masters.
This worker shared their story of maliciously complying with their manager's request that they "do not think" when doing their job—with the manager, themself, likely giving the demand out of exasperated frustration with their own bosses.
Next, see this worker who outed themself after complaining that IT had deleted illicit files off their work computer. (Seriously.)
