Font - Long story short, Our new boss left a high quality, high paying job for a new position at our corporation. He had been in his position a long time and did good work.
  • 03
Font - First week in, he was complaining that employees aren't loyal anymore. He just didn't get it. They leave on a moments notice for more pay, benefits, anything really.
  • 04
Font - Two months later our company laid him off with no notice, after just two months, and outsourced all of our jobs to a cheaper third party.
  • 05
Font - He now understands why no one is loyal anymore. He's lost his job, his career, and the has nothing to show for his hard work, just like the rest of us. I feel bad for him, but it's just the new normal. He gets it now. Loyalty is earned and no one is earning it these days.

Font - 155+7)) bham_cactus_dude · 18 hr. ago Oh I'm a loyal employee. I'm loyal to the family I have to provide for, loyal to MY bottom line. And loyal to my bank account. If an employer doesn't want to act as a partner meeting my needs, I'll find somewhere that will. 3.2k Reply Share

Font - north_canadian_ice · 16 hr. ago SocDem (Not to excuse his comments) but he did stay a long while in the previous position so he probably thought he put his due time in. In the 80s & 90s you could start a job & still be there today. A lot of well- meaning people are just ignorant to how things have changed (& how bad some have always had it). And they are unprepared for the harsh reality outside their bubble.

Font - It doesn't excuse the boss complaining about a lack of loyalty. I think folks like him will be joining our ranks as they too see how unfair the system really is. 1.0k Reply Share

Font - Galdalf-the-Grey - 19 hr. ago We need a new contract of employment. Wages alone are not compensatory for a life's work. Retirement, healthcare, and educating kids should be part of the deal. 20 and 30 year employees being let go should not be permissible. If they aren't needed - your banker overlords can place them at same pay etc somewhere else. 87 Reply Share

Font - LonelyNC123 19 hr. ago . I laugh non-stop at these middle managers who think they are so important they are indispensable. And I REALLY laugh at them when they find out, the hard way, how unimportant they really are. EVERY working person in the USA should be in a Union. 328 Reply Share

Font - TheHrethgir 19 hr. ago Earlier this year, the company I work for announced they were not doing raises this year and canceling bonuses and reducing 401k matching by half. Then one of the execs in a video meeting told us we needed to work hard this year, because we "owe it" to the company. This is how they think.

Font - Fick 'em, I don't owe them anything. In fact, with the pay cut I'm dealing with (first 6 months last year VS first 6 months of this year, my gross pay is down almost $4500), and with the 401k matching cut in half, my future is being affected too. Sure, the CEO took a 25% cut to his base pay, but that still leave him extremely wealthy, while I'm looking at needing to

Font - either start running up my credit cards or getting a part time job to survive the rest of the year. And I've been with this company over 20 years. 59 Reply Share

Font - stevebo0124 · 18 hr. ago I was loyal to UPS for 16 years. During that time I was skipped for too many promotions while people had their buddies or kids promoted. I was given excuse after excuse and when I almost resigned (2020) they begged me to stay and said it would be different. I told them they had a year to promote me or I'd go elsewhere. One year later, they started training me for a promotion. Then they promoted the guy under me instead.

Font - I was angry obviously. But I started looking. I did interviews and had offers but they weren't great offers. So I was patient. Eventually I landed a great government job that had outstanding benefits and my pay almost doubled. When I resigned, my team was shocked and sad. They threw me a party typically reserved for retirees and that felt nice. But in typical company fashion, loyalty was only rewarded with food on a Friday lol. Reply Share 49

Font - EverywhereINowhere 18 hr. ago Heed my warning. I've been loyal to my employer for 20 something years. There was a position that was perfect for my skill set and years of specific system knowledge that only few understand because it's such a niche field. CEO gave the position to someone else less skilled and this person is now failing miserably.

Font - Reason? He didn't want to pay the salary needed for the position. He knows my husband, my kids, and how absolutely life changing the pay would be. Loyalty doesn't mean anything to anyone when control and money are involved. 20 Reply Share
