Landlords may be known for their shady practices, but a full-on role-reversal situation is not what we're accustomed to…
Before we get into this new drama, let's all take a moment to acknowledge that landlords simply should not be able to get away with most of their ridiculous antics. Whether it's raising the rent well above market value and refusing to negotiate or whether it's refusing to acknowledge your fifth email this month about the roach problem and the need for a major roof repair, we have all had these kinds of nightmare experiences. I remember my first adult apartment involved convincing my landlord that the ceiling leak had not been resolved given the fact that every time it rained slightly, the ceiling would completely split in half. The whole debacle was like pulling teeth and clearly, I still have trauma from how it all went down.
So you can imagine that I was sympathetic towards the original author of this story when she divulged details of her feud with her landlords. She shared her story via this thread on Reddit's r/LandlordLove subreddit. She and her husband were vacating their apartment shortly when their landlords requested to stay one night on June 30th. Shortly after, they requested to stay until after July 4th, and then pretty soon it became clear they had no plans to leave soon. Given that the Redditor was still paying rent there and had all of her things there, she has the right to be more than concerned.
Keep scrolling below for the full story and an update at the end about whether or not she was able to kick her landlords out. For more stories like this, here's one about a neighbor feud.
