Something needs to be done about companies that treat job applicants like complete garbage. Until that day comes, regular people with no power will continue to use one of the few tools at their disposal—the humble (but mighty) negative review. Shortly after u/albanska put in their two weeks notice after accepting a position at a new company, said company rescinded the offer, leaving OP jobless and royally screwed. OP warned others against the business via Glassdoor, and the company had the audacity to email OP and request that they take the negative review down, so as not to ruin the business' reputation. Maybe they should've thought about that before ruining someone's life.
Redditors in the comments were just as outraged as OP about their situation. Many even urged OP to contact an employment lawyer.
“That, and plaster it everywhere a review can be left” added u/jvck__h.
“Your new full time job is dragging their name through the mud” said u/CrispyRusski.
“Amazed that Thiel, Musk, or Zuck haven't bought it up so they can control what is said there.” said u/Thiccaca.
“Hell. I would edit the review to specifically mention you were asked to take it down after calling out the bullshit.” said u/SoNerdy.
“Their actions are what hurt their reputation and caused the review.” said u/GSTLT.
“I’m sorry. Due to external changes to my job status, I’ll have to leave the review. But I will keep your request on file for future consideration.” said u/HeLooks2Muuuch.
“PS. I will be editing my review to reflect the statements made in your previous e-mail correspondence.” added u/Mystic_Waffles.
