The only people who can understand the true struggle of long-distance relationships happen to be people who've invested their time and energy into long-distance relationships. Long-distance relationships are more difficult to deal with than relationships where both people involved are locally located. When your primary form of communication is through text messages and phone calls, gaining a close-knit connection through in-person dates isn't exactly a possibility. 

Of course, people in long-distance relationships can always plan visits and trips where they can hang out with each other anytime they both have free time. Still, they are unable to go to sleep together each night or wake up together each morning because distance is the looming barrier in the way. Long-distance relationships will stand the test of time if both people are totally dedicated to maintaining a successful romance through thick and thin. As long as both people don't give up, they'll make it through!
