Complaining about high living costs in cities always inspires the same response: "Well, you could always live in a horrible place!" It is true on some level that living in cheaper areas will increase your likelihood of buying your own home. Why do you think people move to the suburbs to buy a place? However, even suburban homes can cost over $750,000, and that is not at all worth it. There is no such thing as a starter home anymore unless you ask Twitter user @shagbark_hick, who has a "brilliant" idea about how to combat the housing shortage: just move to rural North Dakota!
