'[Passenger] demands a refund': Kevin purchases second seat on plane, learns the flight is largely empty, throws tantrum

Everyone wishes and hopes for an empty seat next to them on a flight. If you're traveling alone and it's not a full flight, you immediately find yourself praying to whomever and thinking about all the reasons in your head about why you deserve this, that you've been good this year… Yes, getting the row to yourself on a plane is the adult version of a Christmas miracle. 

 

Now, the level of predictability when it comes to how full your flight might be obviously varies. This larger passenger insisted on purchasing a second seat next to him upon check-in at the airline. This was probably a combination of personal preference and flight etiquette. Here's where things went wrong: the employee at check-in told the passenger that he should have plenty of space on the flight. The passenger probably assumed that meant his own individual seat, which he knew was not the case. Little did he know, the employee meant that he already has empty seats next to him. Perhaps she should have specified that before he insisted on purchasing the second seat out of safety.

 

Lo and behold, when the passenger got on the flight, he saw that there were about 30-40 folks on a plane that usually seats approximately 150 individuals. The passenger was understandably upset, as he spent over $200 on his second seat. However, it seems like he threw a Kevin-level tantrum and was warned by the flight attendant to calm down before he would be escorted off the aircraft. No tantrum like that is justified.
