This foreign apartment resident lived in the close quarters of the inner district of their nation's capital, with their bedroom facing into the courtyard formed by the surrounding apartment buildings.
The peace of their urban dwelling was shattered when some terrible new neighbors moved in, bringing with them the cacophony of barking dogs and screaming children—who, for some reason, make a point of opening their lungs outdoors in the earliest hours. The parents themselves loved to party outdoors in the courtyard for all to bear witness to like spectators in a coliseum watching gladiators tear each other to pieces.
These parties could carry on into the early hours, with inebriated guests wandering away from the main party to have private conversations loudly, directly beneath the neighbor's apartment windows… Growing tired of this behavior, this disgruntled neighbor found a solution, recording their conversations as they were taking place before playing the conversation back, booming throughout the courtyard for the entire party to hear.
