Font - Ex-boss won't send my last paycheck I was working in Washington state for a few months, I was fired inside 90 days for pushing back on constant wage theft. My ex-boss refuses to send my last paycheck (surprise), it's now 15 days late. It's a small company, ex-boss is owner and manager, When I ask about my pay,

Font - he lies, creates dumb excuses and is in general a huge hole just because, so talking to him isn't going anywhere. The company also misrepresented when I worked, saying I didn't work when I did and instead logged those hours in the next pay period when I was already moved out of state, I only know they did this because I got the paystub with the weird schedule. Still no pay though! How do I get my paycheck and move on from this nightmare? Thanks.

Font - Edit: it seems like a class action lawsuit may be the best option, does anyone have experience with this? Thanks Edit 2: Yes, ALL the employees have dealt with wage theft, since the beginning. So a class action lawsuit could benefit them as well. If the business is blowing up anyway we might as well get paid.

Font - turtles turtling OP. 21 hr. ago Oh! I don't have lawyer money but based on this, it seems like I could take ex-boss to small claims court and be awarded the "double pay," but it sounds more complicated, Is it worth it or should I just let L&I do the work and just take my owed pay?

Font - ExcitingRain4835 - 22 hr. ago Contact the DOL and file your states version of an unpaid wage claim. It's not a quick process but you'll get it eventually.

Font - . Any_Coyote6662 - 19 hr. ago The labor board is so easy. Just Google wage and Hour claims Washington. You will get your money PLUS whatever fine the DOL deems is justified. I got over $500 on a $35 claim.

Font - You don't even need proof. Just write out what happened and how you know and how you have been trying to contact him for 2 weeks. Take screenshots of the messages you sent.

Font - For my claim, all I had was proof that the boss ignored my repeated requests for my pay. And that was enough for the DOL lady to decide in my favor.

Font - Kozmic420 17 hr. ago Lucky for you, Washington State is one of the few states with waiting time penalties. So once you do recover your wages (probably through labor board action), the firm owes you extra for the time that your wages went unpaid

Font - bernieinred 16 hr. ago It's not a class action lawsuit. That is when a group of people get together and file a lawsuit. You only need to go to the labor board, you will have your money within weeks. Report it to the states labor board with the proof.

Font - Best-Structure62 14 hr. ago You are due your full wages on the designated payday. A paycheck that is missing or is short is wage theft. Wage theft is a crime that costs American workers some $50 billion a year.

Font - You need to immediately: File a wage and hour complaint with your local Labor Commissioner. File a complaint with your state tax board. File a complaint with the IRS
