The arduous situation in question, from OP's point of view, is that she was about to get caught stealing all the other roommates' stuff. And she had a total meltdown. But let's start from the beginning. As this story is told by u/CharmingUniversity98's point of view, we shall start there. Many years ago, back when OP was in college, they lived with 4 roommates. Because OP had way better credit than the rest of the lot, they put the internet/cable under their own name; otherwise, the deposit would have been a whopping $600.
You would think the other roommates would be grateful, but alas, one was not. OP was offered a $300 Visa gift card upon signup, but this gift card never arrived. Or at least, it did, but it did not fall into OP's hands. Instead, one of their grubby-fingered roommates felt they were entitled to the money, and spent it. How did OP find out? Because it never arrived, OP called the company and found out that someone had already used it.
It didn't take a genius to know that one of OP's roommates was the culprit, but the question was, which one? As the weeks went by, OP began ruling some of them out, as everyone's stuff began disappearing. One day, one of OP's roommates had a total meltdown, as her wallet had 'vanished'.
