Font - I work in IT as a service desk engineer and we have a limited time window where we can get our food and eat during lunch (12:00 - 13:00). It's always pretty busy in the cafeteria so we plan it accordingly. Other co-workers don't have this time constraint, this is important to the story.

Font - Everyone starts their lunch around 12:00 so that's a time to avoid. We wait until 12:30 in the hopes that we have a smaller queue to order. On this day this was not the case. It was a long queue and it took a while for the kitchen staff to get al orders out. I was waiting

Font - in line (as you should) and a few people walked in and saw someone near the front of the line that they wanted to talk to. Fine by me, as long as you take your place in queue once you are done. But they did not. They kept talking to each other and queued along. They ordered, got their food and left.

Font - When it was my turn I only had 10mins left to wait for my meal and get back to my desk. I was eventually forced to eat at my desk (even though it's not allowed) and serve co- workers during my lunch.

Font - It's the end of the summer holiday so it's pretty busy. A while later we received a ticket from one of the queue jumpers. Of course they changed their prio to URGENT although it was far from urgent from our point

Font - of view. We decided to put them on hold until the end of the day (at least) and continued to work on other tickets (less urgent and more urgent). It's maybe a very small victory but since people want us to call on their every whim, it's fun to actually block someone once in a while.

Font - SheiB123 22 hr. ago IT is the most important division in the company. It is so sad that organizations don't understand and prioritize IT as such.

Font - ddollopp 20 hr. ago This. I make it a point to always be on the good side of and nice to IT. If they have a favor to ask, I drop everything immediately (as long as I'm not on a call) and assist with such favor.

Font - You never know when you'll have an urgent IT matter and it helps to have that goodwill built up to pull in a favor.

Font - slackera ftw. 18 hr. ago I have been at a couple jobs where pissing off IT would be oddly beneficial. At one, operators figured out how to crash the server. When the server went down,

Font - If IT is mad at you and bumps you to the bottom, you get paid for doing nothing. That being said, don't mess with the IT department.

Font - Bad LuckIsMyLuck 17 hr. ago I never understand when people do. I will always be put at the bottom of my priorities. Put High priority on something that isn't, your a can wait. I can justify almost every ticket being a priority over yours. Dumb a S.

Font - These people make the company run. Keep them happy and they might make your life a bit easier. Don't and they for sure will make your life miserable.

Font - Wuss999 1 day ago I was in IT in a large factory environment. Middle management were the worst to deal with. They would phone with a trivial issue and expect us to jump through hoops to fix it. I just used to say I'm working on factory manager pc you'll have to wait. Worked every time.

Font - No_Initiative_8231 · 21 hr. ago Just reject their ticket for incorrect information provided - they will have to log it all over again... You won't see their annoyance, but you know it will most certainly annoy them.

Font - When asked, just advise their asset details didn't appear in CMDB or they already had permissions/access etc etc. Easy to apologise later for the oversight. Feel free to remind anyone you were very busy trying to catch up and didn't really get a lunch break today which must have resulted in the oversight
