If you have ever worked as a phone salesperson, then you know how horrible it is. If you enjoy it, then you work at a company that is unique and cares about their employees and customers or you are a sadist. Because most of the time, these companies hired to sell products for even larger companies pay minimum wage, make employees upsell unnecessary items to work off of commission, and most don't even offer benefits. Imagine it, you're talking to someone who has to be pretty old because they still own a landline and they answer unknown callers. Now you have to try to sell them the top internet connection even though they probably don't even know how to open a pdf?? Tisk tisk.
One of these internet salesperson tried to pull these common upsell fast ones on an old woman, but little did she know that this woman's millennial daughter was there. Now, this daughter isn't in IT or anything, but she works on the internet and grew up with it, so she knew the basics. And she knew that her mother didn't need to be paying top price for an internet, phone, cable bundle. So when her mom approached her to help her figure out what she needed to do to get a bundle that didn't cost her entire pension, she knew exactly what to do.
It was pretty obvious actually, the millennial daughter just went to the internet company's website and found a cheaper bundle that made more sense for her mom. In fact, the bundle she found had her mom paying 30% less than what she was already paying. So when the salesperson found out that the mom was not only NOT going to fall for her sales ploys, but she was also going to get a cheaper plan, they were not happy to say the least. But that's a win for millennial daughter and boomer mom! I'd also call that an expert mother-daughter bonding activity too.
