Font - I got a new phone number in 2019 and no issues for a year. In 2020 I started getting calls for healthcare insurance. I'd get texts and calls frequently for Medicare coverage and such. I'm not Medicare age and work so I have insurance.

Font - I kept asking them to update their info and remove my number. I tried putting my number on the do not disturb list and all the other lists but the calls kept coming. This continued for over 2 years and picked up whenever enrollment periods would open up.

Font - Edit: when you want to get insurance quotes, you enter in a phone number. This person kept putting in my number to get the quote, but avoid the spam calls. (Source: work in healthcare)

Font - Eventually the callers would ask for someone by their first name, we'll say they were looking for "D". I'd ask for the last name but wouldn't get it due to privacy reasons. After more junk and the calls not stopping, the next time I got a call I pretended I didn't hear. "Who are you looking for?

Font - B? C? Oooh D. We have a D 'Smith' here. Are you looking for D Smith?" A few callers finally told me who they were looking for so I had the full name. Same name every time.

Font - I googled my phone number and this person's name and found on this person's company website. Phone number the same but the last digit was a 4 instead of a 5. I created a temp number and texted this person asking "Is this D Brown? I

Font - keep getting calls and texts to my number for you if so. I think they have your number wrong". They wrote back "None of your f-ing business who this is!"

Font - Ok fine. I figured it was them. As I kept getting calls, instead of saying "wrong number”, I started giving out the D's number. "Oh, you want D Brown?

Font - This isn't the right number, I think the number is the same but ends in 4." I did this for the next 5-10 callers. Fast forward two years and I haven't had calls for D since then.

Font - rykylynlan- 13 hr. ago When I was younger my number was similar to a plumbing company so we would get calls every so often for this place. Our number was 5602 and the plumbing place was 6502.

Font - If the people who called were polite when I would say they had the wrong number I would give them the correct number, if they were ride saying they dialed the correct number I would say wrong number again and hang up.

Font - Wise_Tie_9050 - 12 hr. ago We had a phone number that was different by one digit from "Northern Community Hospital", and we kept getting calls for them.
  • 19
Font - Eventually we just used to answer the phone with "Hello, Northern Community Hospital", and then offer to put the person through to whomever they were calling, and then hang up.

Font - They almost always never called right back, so must have hit the right keys the second time around. This was back in the pre- mobile-phone days though...

Font - phillypharm OP 12 hr. ago Yeah unfortunately that doesn't work if someone puts your number in a form requesting quotes. The DNC means they can't call you if not requested, which this person was doing with my number.
