Meddling, pedantic coworkers often consider themselves to be a step above the rabble—despite being a part of it. I mean, most of us will do anything to numb the pain of our existence, but these jokers choose to do it by wielding authority that never really existed in the first place. Having one of them as a member of your team is a one-way ticket to a hellish workplace and existence by extension. The problem is that managers usually leave these busybody coworkers alone and may even regard them as "proficient" just because their tyranny makes the manager's life easier—doing their dirty work for them. The managers are also probably afraid of these people, seeing as they usually memorize the technicalities of company policy, are cunningly (psychopathically) deceitful and charismatic, and have the ability to make the manager's life a living hell, too—should they choose to. Still, they'll slowly erode their coworker's sanity by shining a spotlight on and reporting every little thing they find to be unsatisfactory, slowly bullying their coworkers into a corner through the tyrannical application of processes and rules that they don't even have the authority to enforce.
