Font - Started working at a women's clothing store as a sales lead. I worked for three days and kept asking for the schedule for this week. The manager says she usually makes the schedule 3 weeks ahead of time. Anyways, on my third day she said she forgot to ask me if I'm busy on halloween because she put me on the schedule. I said no. I kept

Font - checking the physical schedule but she didn't write me in. I kept asking about the schedule and she said it would be emailed to me. I didn't get an email so i texted her about it since the week was coming to an end and I wanted to work if and when I work. She seemed annoyed and took hours to respond to my texts.

Font - I finally got the email and I'm not on the schedule until another two weeks. Is this her way of telling me to get another job? How do I make sure that this is the case before looking for another job?

Font - ChoGath1337 ● 15 hr. ago If a manager doesn't give you hours but tells you to be available, they are probably not worth working for anyway. She only wants you as a backup to cover her as if she needs someone.

Font - 8Legged Hugs - 12 hr. ago So heres what you do. They didnt tell you when they hired you they didnt have hours for you. So when you get a new job, don't tell them until she tries to schedule you. Then say "ohhhh. Ya I got a job at a place that gives me hours. Sorry."

Font - ZiegAmimura 15 hr. ago ● Yea this is company's way of firing you without firing you so you cant get unemployment benefits i believe. They think you'll just go somewhere else

Font - drfury31 14 hr. ago Yes, it's "constructive dismissal." You can qualify for UI if they cut your normal hours by 50% or more.

Font - Lyrehctoo 12 hr. ago ● There is a store by me that always has a help wanted ad in every weekly town newspaper. I would never apply there because they obviously can't keep their employees if they are always hiring. I suspect OP applied to a similar establishment

Font - 2ndSnack 14 hr. ago ● Basically what happened to me when I transferred stores. I asked for a schedule and I was never put on. It is their way of firing you. If you keep documenting that you're an employee but aren't given hours I would file for unemployment as proof.

Font - DJH3519 hr. ago It sounds like they are doing a bang up job of wasting your time. In that position I would immediately start applying elsewhere. I might be inclined not to say anything to the current "job" even though

Font - I generally favor giving notice. Not out of regard for them mind you. Just motivated self interest. I don't burn bridges on my way out on the off chance it might inconvenience me in the future. I might make an exception for someone that hired me on and wanted me to be on call with no hours
