Hollywood Announces Official 'Barbenheimer' Movie, the Internet Protests

Lovers of both memes and film will look back misty-eyed at the summer of 2023. Thanks to two major motion pictures, cinema seemed to be So Back with a capital B. Greta Gerwig's Barbie and Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer were the double feature that none of us knew we needed until the internet started overflowing with the barrage of deranged memes that they inspired.

It's true, you couldn't log on anywhere a few months back without your eyeballs being assaulted with Barbenheimer content. Meme makers got creative with the idea of mashing these two very tonally different films together, to the entertainment of just about everyone. 

Unfortunately, this appears to have included Hollywood execs. Long after the meme died, it has been announced that an official, $1 million budget Barbenheimer movie is in the works. It's fair to say that Twitter is not impressed and people have not hesitated in expressing their disappointment. Parody films ain't what they used to be.
